The Bestech Mantidae is a distinctive folding knife that pairs a segmented, insect-inspired handle with a claw-like hawkbill blade.

Inspired by the praying mantis, the Mantidae has a character all of its own, while remaining a practical tool for everyday tasks wherever you go.

Design and ergonomics

The handle features a design that recalls the segments of a mantis body, adding visual interest and improving grip, giving the knife a unique, eye-catching look.

With a closed length of 10.2 cm, an overall length of 17.6 cm and a weight of 96 g, the Mantidae is compact, well balanced and easy to carry throughout the day.

Hawkbill blade in 14C28N steel

The 7.5 cm hawkbill blade has a thickness of 3 mm and a flat grind. Its inward curve holds material against the edge, making it especially suited to controlled, efficient pull cuts.

It handles everyday jobs with ease, from opening boxes and cutting cord to trimming tape or plastic straps.

The blade is made from Sandvik 14C28N, a Swedish stainless steel enriched with nitrogen.

It offers excellent corrosion resistance and good edge retention, and is easy to bring back to a keen edge.

Clean and dry the blade after use to keep it in top condition.

The two-tone satin and stonewash finish gives the blade a refined look while helping to hide scratches from daily use.

G10 handle

The black handle scales are made of G10, a composite of glass fibre and synthetic resin.

G10 is extremely strong, lightweight and dimensionally stable, and is unaffected by moisture or temperature changes.

Combined with the segmented design, it provides a dependable grip in all conditions, making it an excellent choice for an everyday carry knife.

Opening, lock and clip

A thumb stud allows easy one-hand opening.

A steel liner lock keeps the blade firmly in place during use.

The pocket clip is mounted for tip-up carry, keeping the knife secure and always within reach.

Designed by Lucas and Ostap Hel

The Mantidae was designed by twelve-year-old Lucas, inspired by his pet praying mantis, with the help of Polish knife designer Ostap Hel.

It shows how a young designer's idea, guided by an experienced hand, can become a well-balanced and truly original everyday carry knife.
