More info

A Wool Mop 12G is a specialized cleaning tool developed by Parker-Hale for cleaning firearms barrels.

Maintenance is a crucial step in keeping accuracy, safety, and longevity.

Residue from powder, lead, or copper can build up inside the bore, affecting performance and potentially causing corrosion.

Using a proper solvent and a bore brush or swab helps remove fouling efficiently.

Regular barrel cleaning ensures consistent shooting results and protects the firearm from long-term damage.

Perfect for applying solvents or oils following cleaning procedures. Periodic washing with detergent is recommended to maintain mop performance.

The flexible wool design lets you select a size that closely matches your desired calibre.

Caliber: 6.8,7.8-7.9 mm (.270/.30/.303)

Key Features

  • Threaded to fit Parker Hale and most cleaning rods.
  • Manufactured using top quality materials.

Usage Tips

  • Select a brush that matches the caliber of your firearm. Brass or bronze brushes are ideal for removing fouling without damaging the barrel.

  • Lightly soak the brush with a suitable cleaning solvent (like Young’s Black Powder Cleaner or 009 Nitro Solvent) to help break down carbon, lead, or powder residue.

  • Whenever possible, insert the brush from the chamber end of the barrel to avoid damaging the crown (the muzzle’s edge), which is critical for accuracy.

  • Run the brush all the way through the barrel in one smooth motion. Avoid scrubbing back and forth, as this can cause bristle damage or uneven wear.

  • Make several passes (typically 5–10), reapplying solvent if necessary, until fouling is visibly reduced.

  • After brushing, run dry patches through the barrel to remove loosened debris and solvent. Continue until patches come out clean.

  • Apply a light coat of rust-preventing oil using a clean patch to protect the bore during storage.

A staple in firearm maintenance kits across the world.
