Air rifles use widely known pellets as ammunition. These are projectiles made of lead, as the name suggests (except for some premium types of pellets that use other materials).

With a multitude of types distinguished by the shape of the head, each with a specific purpose, there is no best type of pellet for air rifle shooting; there is only the type of pellet that best suits your needs.

Traditionally, the most commonly used pellet was the spherical one, designed to penetrate deeply into the target but not as effective in terms of precision due to its shape.

Unlike round pellets that can spin in any direction due to their shape, diabolo pellets only spin horizontally and never vertically, also due to their shape.
This fact provides a better understanding of the behavior and trajectory of the projectile, allowing the shooter greater shooting accuracy.

Flathead pellets were specially created for shooting at paper/cardboard targets. Although they lose some precision at targets placed at a distance greater than 20 meters, they are widely used because they create a round hole when hitting the target, making it easier to score based on the point of contact in air rifle shooting competitions.

In more informal shooting, such as plinking (shooting at targets like soda cans or even wooden boards), rounded head pellets are the most commonly used due to the versatility of their shots and their aerodynamics.

Pointed head pellets are also widely used in the aforementioned practice due to their high target penetration.

Finally, another type of pellet used in sports shooting is hollow-point pellets, which operate with good accuracy at targets within a distance of no more than 20 meters and are known for their rapid expansion upon impact with the targets. These are just some of the main types of pellets used in air rifle shooting, with various variations available.

In the Mundilar online store, we have a category specifically dedicated to pellets, projectiles, and ammunition, where you can find 4.5mm pellets, 5.5mm pellets, 6.35mm pellets, and many other variations. You will certainly find the type of pellet that best suits your needs.
